But a crucial question remains: do these AI systems truly understand us?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Especially when \u201cus\u201d doesn\u2019t mean a single, uniform group\u2014but rather a wide range of people with different languages, physical abilities, beliefs, and identities. This is where the concept of Inclusive AI begins\u2014artificial intelligence that leaves no one behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is Inclusive AI?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Inclusive AI refers to artificial intelligence systems that are built with an understanding of human diversity\u2014whether in terms of physical ability, language, culture, gender identity, or social context. It\u2019s not just a matter of technical performance, but a process that begins by asking: \u201cWho gets to access this system?\u201d and \u201cHow well does this system understand people who don't fit the norm?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inclusive AI must be accessible\u2014free from technological or interface barriers that may be too complex for certain groups of users, especially those who are often overlooked by conventional systems, such as persons with disabilities or people who do not use formal language.\nIt must also be free of bias embedded in legacy datasets, which often arise from training models on limited and non-representative samples of society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most importantly, inclusive AI must be developed within a clear ethical framework. It's not just about building the fastest or most accurate system, but ensuring respect for user rights, transparency in data collection and use, and fair value sharing with the communities that contribute to these systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Do We Build Inclusive AI in the Thai Context?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Thailand has its own unique challenges when it comes to AI:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u2022 The Thai language includes multiple levels of formality, regional dialects, and varied expressions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2022 Many people with disabilities still face barriers to accessing technology\u2014or are viewed as a \u201cspecial case\u201d that the system doesn\u2019t need to accommodate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2022&nbsp;\u0e2b\u0e25\u0e32\u0e22\u0e23\u0e30\u0e1a\u0e1a\u0e22\u0e31\u0e07\u0e2d\u0e2d\u0e01\u0e41\u0e1a\u0e1a\u0e1a\u0e19\u0e1e\u0e37\u0e49\u0e19\u0e10\u0e32\u0e19\u0e02\u0e2d\u0e07 \u201c\u0e04\u0e19\u0e17\u0e31\u0e48\u0e27\u0e44\u0e1b\u201d \u0e42\u0e14\u0e22\u0e44\u0e21\u0e48\u0e15\u0e31\u0e49\u0e07\u0e04\u0e33\u0e16\u0e32\u0e21\u0e27\u0e48\u0e32\u0e43\u0e04\u0e23\u0e04\u0e37\u0e2d\u0e04\u0e19\u0e17\u0e31\u0e48\u0e27\u0e44\u0e1b\u0e01\u0e31\u0e19\u0e41\u0e19\u0e48<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Building Inclusive AI in this context requires more than just technology\u2014it requires a new approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Is Vulcan Building Inclusive AI?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the past six months, the Science team has been developing and testing a Chat Intelligence system with a clear goal: To reduce errors in message routing and increase service speed.\nThe focus is on helping the system understand questions that don\u2019t follow conventional patterns, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u2022 Users who ask in incomplete sentences, like \u201cShipping fee?\u201d instead of \u201cWhat is the shipping cost?\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2022 Messages with typos or rushed phrasing\u2014the system must still understand and respond accurately.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Challenges in Building AI That Truly Understands Thai Users<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Thai is a complex language for AI.\nThai has no spaces between words, no clear prefixes or suffixes, and many regional accents.\nThe team must test various methods to accurately interpret intent and classify messages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Not all users are the same.\nSome users speak briefly. Some use slang or niche terms. Others\u2014such as people with certain disabilities\u2014may struggle to type. The system must avoid crashing or failing to understand simply because of these differences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. AI that understands = AI trained with real user input.
